Nothing says “festive” to me more than pumpkin.  Especially when scented with cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg, it’s the quintessential holiday fragrance. Sure, the veggie might be more appropriate for Thanksgiving, but bake it into a muffin with chocolate chips and you have a delicious snack or on-the-go breakfast fit for any day of the year.

The first annual Gypsy Picnic at Austin’s Auditorium shores went smoothly. The event showcasing Austin’s most famous and original food trailers came during a brisk Saturday afternoon and lasted throughout the chilly November night. Fittingly, the last two hours of the festival made ample desert time, as most of the trailers had already ran out of food. There’s nothing like warm, delicious sweets to end a cool evening.

The Famous Multitasker from 86 This

The first annual Gypsy Picnic Trailer Food Festival was a success, to say the least.  Great weather, live music, tons of dogs and a big turnout were a big help but, as expected, the food stole the show.  I was so overwhelmed by the massive lines that I jumped in the first one that had a foreseeable end, The Flying Carpet.  The food was well-seasoned and the meat wasn’t too dry, but I definitely was underwhelmed.  I knew that I wanted some good Texas bbq so after that mediocre snack, I decided to tough out the long line for 86 This.  And I’m glad I did because, after a 30 minute wait, I ate devoured one of the most amazing bbq sandwiches I have ever been served, The Famous Multitasker.

Party favors can very easily make or break any social gathering. People come into your home, and before they see what kinds of drinks you are providing, they see the favors you have out. For my money, nothing quite tops the joy of gummy snacks.
